The story begins with a theatre
troupe rehearsing a new production when they are interrupted by six members of
an estranged family, claiming to be characters without a conclusion to their
story. They are hoping to find one. The
director of the play reluctantly agrees to include them in the production, but
the realities of the characters’ lives seem to make more entertaining stories
than the show.
Senior Nathan Dale Short (Paola) is
directing the play. This will be Short’s directorial debut at ESU, although he
has served in the position of assistant director in the past, and directed
scenes for the directing class offered at the school. Short is excited to have
the opportunity to share his vision for the show with an audience.
“Audiences will connect to the
theme of finding their identity; this is who we are, this is what we are
perceived as, and which one truly matters.” Short said.
Juniors Dustin Bittel (Olathe) and
Rachel Muirhead (Hays) will be the stage managers for the production. Performers
include freshman Alec Wahlberg (Olathe), sophomores Justin Sheck (Gardner),
Katie Pelegrin (Olathe), juniors Barry McAnulty (Bronson), Isabella Harvey
(McPherson), Semaj Smith (Salina), seniors Jeri Troyer (Garnett), Sydney Main, and
Emporia High School student Rachele Dean (Madison).
