The Burlesque Show for Fringe 2013, with a BDU flaire...

Jenifer Harmon in association with Lady Or The Tiger Productions, by combining her love for Opera with her love for Burlesque, has done an incredible job facilitating an appreciation for Opera and Burlesque to audiences who perhaps have never been exposed to either art form (hence the nature of Fringe) by taking a chance and combining them into a fun and flirty tribute to the seductive art of Burlesque and Opera. Absolutely incredible professional vocal performances, accompanied by a live pianist, by some of Kansas City's most renowned Opera singers, take the stage and perform inspiring soprano, mezzo, and alto performances with a Burlesque flair. And for those die-hard fans of Burlesque at the KC Fringe wondering where BDU is, they'll enjoy an especially delightful treat because Madame MacKay of Burlesque Downtown Underground is hot off her June tour of Colorado and is both emcee'ing and performing.

A lifelong lover of the theatre and a fan of breaking down walls between various performance arts, it was an absolute pleasure to enjoy an evening of Opera Saturday night without all the pomp and circumstance, being encouraged as an audience by the lovely Madame MacKay to hoot and holler our appreciation for these incredible performers as they raised the roof with their delightful voices. Risqué and artful this show was billed, and it delivered. Seriously, if you can only see one Burlesque show at Fringe this year, this is the one to see. Located at the Westport Coffee House.
