Family destroyed by alcohol and drugs

5 out of 5

There is nothing unique about the storyline-plot of this play. What is almost unique is the incredible performances of every cast member. There was no weak link in this cast. Ruth is at home, dying from Cancer, having ended her cancer treatments. Lisa, her daughter, comes back home to say her final goodbyes, but her mother is comatose. What unfolds is a flashback of why she had not spoken to her mother in four years. It all stems from the alcohol and drug addictions of her sister Amy and the death of their father at a very young age. Vicki, their aunt, is the one that bears the burden of trying to keep her sister's family together and healing them. The family secrets are almost unbearable. The mother is unable to listen or understand Amy's addiction issues. In the end the Aunt is unable to help her sister's family heal, but brings Lisa back to her mother in a scene of forgiveness as her mother is dying.
